The Unscripted Weekly: Earth Day Edition

The Unscripted Weekly features links to various articles I have come across in my travels across the internet.  Feel free to share your own internet journeys, and thoughts on these articles in the comments section.

Welcome to Earth Day 2017!  Earth Day was founded in 1970 by Senator Gaylord Nelson in response to a massive oil spill that occurred in Santa Barbara in 1969.  What started as a grassroots effort has become an annual event designed to educate the public, celebrate the earth, and raise awareness on how each of us can help protect our environment.

This year, the Earth Day Network has joined forces with the March for Science which is holding a rally on the mall in Washington D.C.  Today’s events include educational expos, speeches, and a march through the streets.  You can learn more here.

Google has a lovely doodle to get your Earth Day started.  It is a great reminder of the impact we have on our environment.

MPR News offers everyday tips on how to reduce our own environmental footprint. These easy tips give all of us a place to start.

I know I feel better when I make a point to reduce my consumption, and there is still a lot more I can do.  Check out Alexandra Suarez’s article Earth Day 2017: Tips for a Greener Home, and learn how you can make small changes for a big impact.

And Ellen has a cute video celebrating Earth Day, and how to make a positive impact to our environment.
