The Unscripted Weekly: All About Parenting

The Unscripted Weekly features links to various articles I have come across in my travels across the internet.  Feel free to share your own internet journeys, and thoughts on these articles in the comments section.Parents know it without a doubt.  Parenting is hard.  Really hard.  Just when we think we have it down, kids throw us a curveball.  Well, this week’s Unscripted Weekly offers tips and tricks about parenting, and shows us we are not alone in our struggle.  Every parent struggles, even those that seemingly have it all together.

First up, is a tough but real topic.  Having a seriously sick child is any parent’s fear, and when it happens to someone close to you, there are dos and don’ts on offering help.  Take a look at Katharine Stahl’s article How to Help a Friend Who’s Dealing with a Very Sick Child.

All parents have tough conversations with kids at some point, but some conversations are tougher than others, and this poignant video shows a young African American child reciting her father’s guidance when encountering a police officer.

As parents, we all do things at times that we never thought we would do.  I was the best parent before I had a child than I have ever been since having a child.  I said I would and would not do a whole host of things.  Hah!  The joke was on me for sure.  Apparently, other parents have said the same thing.  Check out their “I will never” lists, and have a knowing laugh!

Devices have a place in homes, but how much of a place?  When is it too much, and how do we get kids off of them?  Here are some strategies for doing just that.
